The growth of Green Mobility in 2022
BUVO Castings continues to grow in the Green Mobility market
The automotive market is changing rapidly and BUVO Castings from Helmond is responding seamlessly to this with its complex and high-end castings that ensure weight savings and heat dissipation in electronically driven vehicles.
The market for “Green Mobility”, a name we prefer to use because it indicates that it is not just about cars, has ensured that the previously traditional markets for means of transport have changed at lightning speed: from fossil fuel-consuming engines to batteries in car; from refueling at a traditional gas station to charging at the charging station in your street; from car to electric bicycle for medium distances. BUVO’s innovative and sustainable solutions for heat dissipation in aluminium castings meanwhile also have a large sales market among both existing and new clients who are all looking for a way to remove and/or dispose of all the extra heat released by electricity. cooling.
“With the electrification of vehicles, a huge transition has been initiated in the automotive industry”, says Sales Manager Roland Jakobs. “At BUVO Castings we are tackling this electrification in a broader context, under the name Green Mobility. We do not only look at the car, but also at other electrically powered vehicles, such as bicycles, scooters or scooters. In addition, our aluminium castings are also very suitable for use in charging stations, for charging various types of vehicles.” We, and our relations, see that a lot of heat is released when electricity is converted, for example from mains power to a battery. Take a car: the faster you have to charge it, the more power it produces. This creates a lot of (undesirable) heat in the electronic components. Good cooling is essential.” Within the walls of our foundry, a method has been developed in which pipes made of stainless steel, copper or aluminum can be cast in order to provide internal cooling.
BUVO developed this technique in reverse decades ago for the heating industry. There, copper pipes cast in aluminum were used to transfer the heat from the combustion part of a central heating boiler to the water. The current developments in the electrification of many products require the exact opposite: all those electronic components require considerable cooling. In recent years, BUVO has further developed this technology in such a way that the foundry is seen as the specialist in E-mobility and leading companies in the automotive industry, the bicycle world and component manufacturers have found their way to Helmond.
A large number of castings that are produced in the high and foundry are now intended for end products where heat removal is required, and this ensures that BUVO’s order book is well filled in the coming years. BUVO is currently investing heavily to be ready for the expected growth that has been set in motion by the increasing demand for electric cars, scooters, bicycles and the like.
