The bicycle market in motion
Last week the news came out that our “little Netherlands” is a global leader when looking at the share of electric bicycles in the total number of bicycles sold. In numbers, only the much larger Germany had higher sales, according to figures from the European trade association Conebi.
The world of mobility is in full swing and that applies more than ever to the cycling world: while it may seem that little innovation and change is possible after the introduction of the E-bike, this market is still in full swing and the Helmond foundry BUVO makes an important contribution to this.
When the E-bike was introduced a few years ago, many manufacturers focused on the active (young) senior. However, the German company Fazua saw things differently when they started in 2013 out of a love for cycling and a desire to change the bicycle market. They wanted to focus on a completely different target group: the young and sporty cyclist who wants to combine comfort with sporty performance. Based on this vision, they developed the ‘Energy Ride system’ that they supply to a number of high-end bicycle manufacturers. The Energy Ride system consists of an extremely lightweight drive that is completely removable, so that this E-bike can be transformed into a regular bicycle within seconds without the burden of the weight of the drive.
The specialization of BUVO has been called in for the production of a housing that meets the weight and flexibility criteria. Due to the organization’s experience in the field of complex castings, housings for electric cars and housings for the previous generations of E-bikes, BUVO turned out to be the party that can ensure that Fazua can literally give energy to the cycling world in its own unique way.
It is expected that the first of the planned hundreds of thousands of housings will be delivered by BUVO from Q4 2021.
